I think my favorite zone has to be Azuremyst Isle. There is something about that zone that just makes me so happy every time I’m in it. Whether it’s the music, the occasional protrusions of crystals from the ground or the mobs in it, it just gives me that nostalgic feeling every time I’m in it.

Thanks again for all your team’s hard work and see you around!

My Favorite Dungeon would have to be Wailing Caverns, I remember first going there on my first character in Vanilla and how difficult it was just to find it. Then once you found it there were all these great new mobs and Quests that involved Stealth NPC’s. Not to mention all the farming and hunting for the first big money maker the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight. That place just reminds me of those Good ol days when we were all figuring stuff out.

My favorite zone is Redridge Mountains, I love the fact its ore of a story instead of a bunch of unrelated quests. I love the ability to fly and drop bombs on the eastern side, love that new quest chain. I am glad the area kept most of beauty. I love the mountains, and when I am in that zone, I feel like I am there and can feel the wind blowing. Before cata it was a zone that I would dread and rush through, now I take my time and smell the roses or take a dip in the lake.

I’ve loved World of Warcraft for a little over a year, going through all the drama and boredom that went along with pre-Cataclysm. It was tedious, mediocre and downright mind-numbing at times. But Cataclysm has not only changed my attitude upwards leveling, it’s made me think about the quests, read the quest text, and enjoy the sometimes ingenious, sometimes hilarious plots.

This attitude has brought along a lot of other changes in my leveling style; for example, I now actually have a favorite 1-60 leveling zone!

So it is with pride that I announce my favorite leveling zone; Ungoro Crater!

Ungoro Crater often gets overlooked because most of it’s quests are disjointed or are kill quests. But what most people seem to forget is that the story behind this zone is incredible. The big overarching quest line is about the creation of Azeroth and all of the races that lie within it. You meet “The Creator’s” assistant who is hesitant to reveal much, and you learn only a few facts and that the creatures in Un’Goro Crater are failed race mutations.

I’m a lore buff, so this made me really excited, and I eagerly await the next installment in this part of the lore, wherever it may be.

My favorite zone would have to be Azuremyst Isle because i love the scenery and the quest line. After I initially made my main (druid) I made a draenei priest and fell in love with the quests for the draenei over the night elf quests. I particularly loved 2 quests: the quest where you had to gather a hollowed tree trunk and several piles of leaves for a costume to pose as a tree and spy on the traitor. That was the first time I was introduced to how much cooler Blizzard was with the fact that for quests, you had to dress up in a weird get up and spy on conversations. I was amazed with that and loved it. The other quest was the spirit furbolg quest where you’d follow one spirit to the next, first ground then water then air, it was beautiful. I was stunned as to how elegant it was. I particularly loved the air element part where I glided from the top of the cliff and gracefully down. Azuremyst was beautiful but the quests left me in awe.

As for my favorite instance, I rather liked Maraudon because all the variations prior to Maraudon like orange crystals was just ridiculously annoying. Maraudon was not only quick, fun, it was also a change from orange crystals and all else.

My favorite zone is definitely Duskwood!

Everything from the music, to the somber lighting, all the way down to the webbing swaying in the wind is beautiful and calming in a way, but also reminds you that you are in danger here. The quests are well put and really make a girl feel like she’s making a difference, other than putting that stomp on horde invaders, that is! And who could forget the eyes that peek menacingly out from behind the bushes! Yes, you start to ignore it after you’ve been there a bit, but the first time you notice that you’re being watched is always such a scary thrill!

My favorite thing about Duskwood, however, is the Twilight Grove… Between the periodic world bosses that show up there and the mystery of the gate itself, it’s fired up my imagination on several occasions!

Favorite zone, hmm there are so many. They are all so unique in there own ways. I will have to choose the Worgen starting area. You get to experience all the great things of WOW. You go from human to worgen from a scratch. get to save children, rescue adults from drowning a little spying is also included. Plus flying thru the air from a catapult, riding a stage coach, a horse, ride a flying mount and getting alot of xp from mining 6+ stacks of copper as well as the gold it provides from the Auction house.

My favorite dungeon original dungeon was the deadmines. It got me hooked on wow, bringing back memories from RPG games from long ago. It’s the first Alliance dungeon and first time noob’s really get connected with other players. I also feel like the quest line getting to Van Cleef was original and interesting. All that being said, I can’t say I care too much for the update to the deadmines in cata, especially the heroic version. I can’t understand why blizzard would mess around with an original great.

    • Connor

Gilneas, easily, mostly because the Worgen are my favourite race, but I like pretty much everything about it, the storyline, especially, and theres also the fact that it was the place really hooked me onto WoW

    • Debra Berry

Redridge Mountains, post Cataclysm. Those characters have already long outgrown all that gear, but I’ll keep those bandannas forever. I haven’t had very many questing experiences, or WoW experiences, or even gaming experiences, that were that immersive. I’m the last surviving member of Bravo Company, dammit. (Okay, Keeshan *did* survive, but still.)

    • Bruce

My favorite zone is westfall. Back in the day after Elwyn Forest it is the first zone that gave me an idea of what was to come in the game and trying to get through deadmines was epic. I love what they have done to westfall in cataclysm the edition of new flight paths and quest reminded me of how much I wished for them running all over westfall and being attacked by everything. So I guess it’s partly nostalgia that makes westfall my favorite zone.

My favorite zone is probably the Stranglethorn Vale, just because it’s so wide and open with a variety of wildlife and the weekly fishing tournament. It’s nice having access to the dock and gryphons there, and all the other comforts of “home.”

    • Wade

My favorite zone pre-cataclysm was Stranglethorn Vale. All of the non-quest related content here was truly amazing. Especially one part, a hidden path near Booty bay that leads up a cliff-face, until you get to the top and run out of room… the view from this perch was truly stunning. I remember in Vanilla WoW movingthe camera to true-first person while on a flight path mount, and just admiring the scenery as it flew past.

My favorite zone post-cataclysm has to be the Worgen starting zone, Gilneas. The story of the werewolves origins and the integral way you are put into this story is truly amazing.

My favorite dungeon of all time is still Shadowfang Keep, and yes, the update hasn’t changed this. Though I’ll miss the old Houndmaster and his spirit dogs, the updated version is quite a fun romp through, and the growing tension between the undead and the Horde looks to be a future headon collision. I can’t wait to see it.

My favorite zone would almost certainly have to be the Goblin starting area. I would make another gobby just to do the starting quests again – I mean how often do you get to cruise around in a hotrod and blow things up with rockets right out of the gate? Most Wow starting areas, are meant to be ‘gotten out of the way’ – Kezan is meant to be played through and thoroughly enjoyed. For newbies its a great intro to the wacky goblin race, and for veterans it feels like playing for the very first time again.

    • Daedalus

I suppose Gilneas would have to be mine for the storyline.
Having to deal with both an obvious and known threat from the Forsaken and an unknown threat from the curse and subsequently the worgen gives a good pace and feel to the quests.
It is a great twist that the curse which is so feared could then prove to be one of the biggest strengths of the Gilnean people.

I haven’t been playing WoW for very long but I can tell you that I have two favorites: Red Ridge Mountains and BRD

I never did the Red Ridge Mountain quests pre cata because I was power leveling with RAF with my friend. But now that I had just finished the quests on my alt, I couldn’t help but laugh. The story line was not only intriguing and entertaining since I had to save several NPCs who remained in my party, the quests titles were just down right hilarious. One of the last quests was called “AHHHHHH! AHHHHH!!!” I kid you not. And it was great destroying things with the tank. I rather enjoyed it.

My favorite instance would have to be BRD/Molten Core.
Whenever I would get qued for BRD, my group would always end up cleaning out the whole place which took hours of sleep away as the night grew long. But it was great for the sake of xp. Not only that, but my group would always be social and entertaining–not to mention motivated to clean the whole place out. Whenever I participated in Molten Core my party would consist of guildies and most of them would be smashed as we ran MC. I suppose I like BRD/MC moreso for the memories than the content. But nonetheless, I do enjoy the instance, no matter how long or how tedious it becomes. 😀 One last fun tidbit, when I first ran BRD none of my party members told me how to get back. So I was running around in circles till they finally told me to jump down INTO the lava (I was completely skeptical) and to find a ramp and follow the wall. That was frustrating, but it was funny to look back upon.

There once was a place in a far away land called azuremyst isle…
I remember the first time i stepped upon her shores and was transfixed by her foreign beauty.
A soft breeze blew and i heard the most delightful melody i had ever heard in my travels adventuring the far lands of Azeroth – ebbing and flowing bringing delight to my soul.
Then I noticed her colours were different so different from her fellow lands – I sensed something had happened here – something to change the colours, and I travelled upon a ship crashed, and a subterranean city; and I was over come with adventure…
Journey everywhere I did, meeting new folk to call friends; and many a foe to battle; and my heart was filled with joy…
I noted in my journal the quests which exhilarated me and landscapes of great beauty and sat contented on a dock far away from anywhere musing; what a wonderful place this is, a place to return many times to…
To my friends, I give you this story true…

My favourite zone is Tanaris in Kalimdor. I didn’t get into WoW until Cataclysm, so I’m not familiar with the game world changes that occurred. I was worried when I got to Tanaris that I wouldn’t like it because it looked like such a big, empty desert… I couldn’t have been more wrong. Lots of cool creatures in the scorpids, hyenas, and one of the first instances of silithids (before they got annoying just a zone later in Silithus!) was one of the first draws, especially with me being a hunter. It had a fun questline with some standouts like bombing the pirates while saving the goblins. Even though the quests had you all over the zone, the zone was only deceptively barren… it was quite fun to explore once you actually got down to it.

What remains the coolest part of the zone though, is the Caverns of Time. I didn’t know what its purpose was, but when I first stumbled upon it, it was just the coolest thing ever. Villages, people, creatures stuck in time in this mysterious underground world… I can’t wait to revisit it down the line, knowing now that it’s a variety of dungeons. For now, to Northrend!

I think winter spring is my favorite zone even though spending 2 weeks straight in the zone For my winter saber i still Love it. I think thats why I like the zone. To bad I didnt wait for flying could have shaved off a few days. They got some cool quests there and some good limited supplies

My ‘favorite’ zone would have to be Westfall. Not only was it really cool to look at and run around in…but it was the location of my FIRST Elite kill – Vultros (level 26 Elite). I was level 26. I hunted for him for over a week and a half (he had a 21-32 hour respawn rate). He showed up at Stendels’ Pond. The date was January 6, 2007 at 9:30 am. See I told ya it meant something to me. LOL. He had a rare dagger drop, Talon of Vultros, that was fantastic for Rogues. So not only did I hunt for 10 days for him to show up but I was gambling on the drop actually being there. I was sooooo happy when I looted him and there it was in all its glory (for a level 21 weapon at the time). I used that weapon for so long and I almost didn’t want to let it go when I needed an upgraded dagger. Heh. I even still have the picture on my photobucket of the kill and my bags open to show the tool tip of the dagger. God that was a great memory of Vanilla WoW. Thanks to you Dugi for allowing me to relive that moment in my mind.
