You may have heard already our home town Christchurch was struck by 6.3 earthquake only months after 7.1 earthquake last september. The effects of this earthquake is much more devastating because the source of the earthquake was much shallower (only 5 km deep) and closer to the City.

I was driving with my wife and son for lunch the moment it happened, we were on the road just outside the central city we were lucky that we didn’t go to one of our favorite spots in the city.

We feel sorry for the people that have died, hundreds who are still missing and thousands of people who have lost their homes. We all feel very fortunate to be alive as it could have been any of us that day.

More news about the quake are best found in the NZ news website http://www.stuff.co.nz/

Everyone that we know are 100% fine and our homes are also fine, although some areas within walking distance from my house are badly damage, we have power and limited water supply.

I feel guilty to continue working while there is so much damage around us, but we were adviced to just stay home and look after each other and since most of us work from home we are able to carry on as usual.

Christchurch itself is devastated, most of the city have to be rebuilt. If you would like to somehow help you can visit this page below for a numbers of ways that you can help.

Thoughts and prayers still with you and yours Dave. I trust most are getting to their feet again and unfortunately regardless of what happens the world continues to turn. If only it would stand still so all things could be put in order. Thanks for persevering through difficult times. and Thank God for all those that have friends and family as well as a global community. I’m so glad we live in the free world and our biggest worries are the traumas of nature and not one another. God Bless

from what I have heard on the news the recovery effort are going well the rescue team are doing an amazing job, although there is little chance of anymore rescues. About 163 victims were recovered and unfortunately there are still about 200 people reported missing a lot of them are foreign visitors.
