      WHAT’S WRONG?:
my guide seems to be broken in game, i cannot move the guide from it’s current location and the button attached to the minimap won’t allow me to do anything but when i press it, it does tell me that “Dugis Guide Off”

WHAT I’VE DONE TO FIX IT SO FAR?:
first made sure everything i did had admin privileges

i’ve completely uninstalled everything DugiGuide from my computer… Aside from completely reformatting my hard drive there is nothing more i can do to be sure that there is nothing left of dugi’s guides.

after uninstalling everything i went to the members area and reinstalled fresh downloads of the latest installer 1.0.5 from this link http://ultimatewowguide.com/installer/DugiGuides_1.0.5.exe

after that i noted that it would continually do this downloading thing when i hit play, so i deleted the file names/locations and everything from both lines and hit “ok” and exited the program. opened the program again and the installer now seems to work ok, and updates appropriately to the latest versions of the guides 5.0058.

      HOWEVER,:
my issue is still there… even with fresh copies of the guides, trying to install them via the installer, and using the re-install option on the installer, nothing seems to be making the guides work in game …

      RECAP:
so my installer works, my guides do not work in game, fresh installs do not seem to help, is there something i’m missing?

      • Dugi

Enter the game and type ‘/dugi fix’
then log out and it will fix your issue.

I’ve deleted and re-loaded the latest Java. I can manually install the new guide but I have to change all the forward slashes for backslashes in the path on V 1.05 of the installer and remove a few extras that get thrown in for some reason. I had the same problem with 1.04.
It’s not a problem for me but if this occurs on some less technical peoples computer it could be a bit discouraging.
      Is this only my computer?
      Great guide

    • Sonya

Dugi… thanks for the step by step instructions.. I’m am the first to admit I am one of the more computer challenged people around and I got it to work on the first try.. no issues.. no problems… Thanks for making it simple…

    • caleb

i have tried everything that has been listed below and when i down;pad the new guide it says 1.0.5 but when i go into the details it says version 1.0.4 i have deleted everything and changed the path and nothing seems to be working. thanks for the great guide and i want to keep using it asap lol

    • Kenneth Thomson

Got it. Deleted the installer and icon to ensure I got the correct version installed. Still got the looping problem but when I closed and restarted the installer all was OK.

      Thanks

    • Wywy

ok Dugi, I did what you asked……….uninstallled the Zip file on my desktop and the DigiGuide file frome my computer. I then installled vir 1.0.5 exe. I went to setting and deleted the incorect path info, exited the installer and reinstalled, this time it entered the correct path info and I was able to play Wow from your website. However, there is no 1,0,5 dugieGuide shortcut now on my desktop, and your guide is not shown in my downloads file. So now what, without the shortcut icon on desktop I can’t access guide for updates and there is no file in dowload file? Very frusterating, please help…..thank you, wywy

      • Dugi

@Wywy, If you want DugiGuides on your desktop simply copy the DugiGuides_1.0.5.exe file into your desktop, I’m not able to tell you where you have downloaded your file in your computer. This is something that you should know yourself.

        1. Try right clicking on the link http://ultimatewowguide.com/installer/DugiGuides_1.0.5.exe

        2. and select “Save link as”

        3. Select your desktop

        4. Select Save

now you should have Dugi Guides Installer on your desktop.

        • Wywy

@Dugi, Thank you very much Dugi…did as you advised and icon now on my desktip and works fine….love your guides, keep up the good word……….wywy

    • Dugi

I have just posted additional instruction above if you are still experiencing any problems.

    • Wywy

Dugi,,,after several times deleteding the incorrect paths and reinstalling, it finally worked from your site. However the quick start icon on my desk top still references the old guide and doesn’t work properly (jut loops), and there is a new Zip file title “dugiguide” on my desk top. So, how do I access and use the new launcher since there is no shortcut icon for it on my desktop, and…….what do I do with the Zip file? Thank you…wywy

      • Scotty

yes, i have the same problems as most of you. Bought guides are not shown and when i click ‘play’ it reloads. Can not get into game this way. My path did have the funny lines at the end but when i entered the correct path this made no difference. Looking for ward to this being fixed.

Great guide though Dugi and am really looking forward to the new guide 5. Great work!

        • Scotty

i got my guides showing and it now says installer 1.0.4, plus the installer icon changed to the new look one. My problem is that i keep getting these lines //// added to my paths and even when i delete them they come back on reloading. Also, now although it has stopped looping, it will not allow me to enter WOW when i press play.. nothing happens.

          Thanks for your time.

          • Scotty

I seem to have gotten the computer to stop adding extra // to the paths….and can get into WOW. The only thing that remains wrong now is the latest news section…. the mesages there are from March and it has things like {font} in it and a strange layout. Thanks again…

      • Dugi

Please delete all DugiGuide*.exe and zip file in your computer so you don’t confuse them with the new version, and download the latest one.
Make sure you are running the file that says 1.0.5 , edit the path in the settings menu and it will work.

        MAC: http://ultimatewowguide.com/installer/DugiGuides_1.0.5.zip

    • jose

i have the same problems as kenneth thomson

      • Dugi

@jose, it is working 100%, make sure you are using 1.0.5 and check your path again.

    • Kenneth Thomson

Well I’ve got problems with the Installer too. It does not show which Guides I have purchased and if I click the play button it just updates again. I’ve checked the setting as per other posts but still nojoy. Looks really screwed this time.

      • Dugi

@Kenneth Thomson, it is working 100%, make sure you are using 1.0.5 and check your path again.

    • david s

when i click on the play button on the installer it reloads and updates again not a big issue just thought i would let you know i love all your guides

      • Dugi

@david s, use the following link below and make sure you have the latest version and check the path in your settings menu.

        PC: http://ultimatewowguide.com/installer/DugiGuides_1.0.5.exe

        MAC: http://ultimatewowguide.com/installer/DugiGuides_1.0.5.zip

        • david s

@Dugi, i have the 1.0.4.exe file and its still doing the same thing i am running windows vista home premium sp2 64bit os…its also is saying that i have have no current guides installed but it is installed and its at 4.7858 on the addons screen in wow

          • Dugi

@david s, you have the incorrect world of warcraft path in the Dugi Guides installer settings menu, I guarantee it. Check your path again.

            • david s

@Dugi, the path was incorrect,, you are awesome Dave thank you for all the help

    • Probrep

Oh, and when I open the new installer (file name is simply “DugiGuides” with no version number), the version number inside the guide says “Dugie Guides Installer v1.01”. It does say Version 5 July 29th however. Yes, a bit confusing. Still love the guides!! 🙂

    • Probrep

Very strange. For the mac, the “new installer is v 1.0.4 with a date of Jan 27, 2011, yet the one it “replaces” is v 1.0.2 with a date of Jan 27, 2011. Think I’ll keep both for the time being…

    • Wywy

Im having the same problem as James with the loopinmg, etc….How do I view the path it is installing to? Thank u Dugi

      • Dugi

@Wywy, Open the installer and click on the settings menu, make sure both your path is correct, eg

        For the 1st box – (your path)\World of Warcraft\
        For the 2nd box – (your path)\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe

    • James

Read Dugi’s responses below, to make sure the Settings in the Installer have the correct paths. The paths were incorrect, but the looping behavior does not stop even when the correct paths are entered. Sigh…

      • Dugi

@James, are you saying that your path is correct, but its still does the loop behaviour? I’m not able to replicate this issue at all, try deleting the path. Close the installer and reload it, then enter the path again. If problem still occur please contact ticket support and we can setup a remote help to see what the issue is.

        • James

@Dugi, Correct. Removed the paths from the installer Settings screen, closed the installer, reran the installer (which populated the paths correctly this time). Installer goes through its motions, but when pressing the Play button, it keeps going through the downloading/installation again.

          • Dugi

@James, I’m 100% certain that correcting your path will resolve this issue as the installer is working correctly. Can you contact ticket support with some screenshot of your path in the installer.

    • Jan Gustavsson

I run the Installer 1.0.4 and it leaves a zip file in the directory I run the installer from.
The old installer never did that. I do not think I ever saw the zip file that where downloaded with the older versions.

What should I do with the zip?

      • Dugi

@Jan Gustavsson, you can safely delete that zip file, it shouldn’t do that. It might have been a one off occurence, did you run it in admin mode?

        • Jan Gustavsson

@Dugi, No, I do not think I run it in admin mode.
I did run it again after deleting the zip. The same zip showed up again.
So I did run it in admin mode after that, and I still get the zip.

The settings looks a bit odd.
          Instead of
          C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\/\
          it is
          /C:///Program /Files///World of /Warcraft//\//\

The same goes for both paths. Should I change it or is it meant to be as it is?

          • Jan Gustavsson

            Well, I answer myself 🙂

I changed the paths. I had to do it twice, both when running the installer normal and when running it in admin mode.
Then the “Update” (or what the text in the button said before) did not show up and I had a “Play” button instead. I did instead test the “Reinstall” button and the zip showed up again, but where removed by the program after the reinstall.

So I guess the problem where fixed and it where related to the path.

    • Bruce Bergquist

New Installer does not seem to be working. Doesn’t log me in as a member, but only as a trial user. When I click “play” it just keeps downloading repeatedly.

      • Dugi

Are you using the latest version 1.0.5 ?
double check that the launcher.exe path is correct in the settings menu.

        it should be

        Windows: (your path)\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe
        MAC: /Applications/World of Warcraft/World of Warcraft Launcher.app

    • John Woody

I notice after installation through auto installer that it went well. However now I get into a continuous loop with Dugi’s shortcut. After installing on system, install button goes to play, hitting play it reinstalls and states install done, button goes to play, hit play back to install. I was used to going into the game by running short cut everytime for updates and then launching the game from the shortcut. Doesn’t work that way now.

      John

      • Dugi

@John Woody, I can confirm that 1.0.5 will definitely work on PC and Mac, your Launcher settings may have been altered with the new version.

double check that the launcher.exe path is correct in the settings menu.

        it should be

        Windows: (your path)\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe
        MAC: /Applications/World of Warcraft/World of Warcraft Launcher.app

        • John Woody

@Dugi, more clarification needed. My WOW launcher works without problems and has the path as you indicated. Previously prior to updating last night I would launch WOW by clicking Dugi’s Guides shortcut. That short cut would look to see what version of Dugi’s guide is loaded. At that time if version was current the buttom lower right would say play. Clicking that would launch WOW. If the version had been upgraded the button was say update or something like that. Clicking the button would update the version and when finishe the button would label play. The Dugi’sGuide shortcut button now has path to only update the Dugi’s Guide and loops back to install update, play, and back to install update. J

    • Sue

I’m trying to download it. It stalls and does not finish. I thought you might like to know that the installer is definitely hiccuping.

      • Dugi

@Sue, Make sure you are using the latest version 1.0.5

    • Jordan Humberto de Souza

With this release, it will reduce the download size of each update? Or it still just download the full zip file and uncompress it on the wow folder?

I wish to see smaller updates.

      • Dugi

@Jordan Humberto de Souza, it will still download the full zip with all your paid guides.

        • Jordan Humberto de Souza

@Dugi, Oh i see… can you work in updating it with minor updates, i mean only the changes from the last update?

          • Dugi

@Jordan Humberto de Souza, we would have to create a pretty sophisticated piece of software and I’m being honest when I say that I don’t think it will be worth the time. Its is currently not that big to download the entire addon and guides (around 4MB) and doing only partial updates will leave more room for errors.

            • Jordan Humberto de Souza

@Dugi, Oh! Didnt know that was that hard, anyways… thank you for the fast reply dugi! ;3
